Sacred Heart School Financial Aid Program Guidelines
The scholarship and financial aid programs at Sacred Heart School are designed to support the vibrant, diverse school community in grades K-8 by providing financial aid to families that cannot afford full tuition, while maintaining a well-resourced, well-staff, catholic education to our students.
Awards are for one year and, although recipients must reapply each year, returning students are given first priority for aid, assuming that families submit their application by the submission deadline and that the students remain in good financial, academic, and behavior standing, and continue to demonstrate financial need.
There are three primary sources of financial assistance. The first is the Caritas Scholars Program offered by the Archdiocese of Chicago. The second is financial aid offered by Sacred Heart School/Fahey Scholarship Fund. The third is financial aid offered by Sacred Heart Parish & School.
Caritas Scholars Program
The Caritas Scholars Program offers scholarships to families enrolling their children in an Archdiocese of Chicago school (K-8) for the first time in the upcoming fall and who demonstrate a financial need. Families with students at Sacred Heart School who had previously received Caritas Scholarships can reapply for the scholarship and will receive priority reviews if their financial aid application and separate Caritas Scholarship application are submitted prior to the deadline. Caritas Scholarship awards are determined by the Caritas Scholarship Committee of the Archdiocese of Chicago. Once the awards are determined, the Caritas Scholarship Committee will inform the Head of School of the awards in order to determine if revisions to the awards are necessary. Sacred Heart School Financial Aid
Sacred Heart School’s Financial Aid Committee also provides financial assistance based on need. The source of this financial aid can either be third-party donors or self-funded by the parish and school. It is not necessary for families to apply for a Caritas Scholarship in order to apply for financial aid from SHS; however, Caritas Scholarship awards will impact the amount of SHS financial aid that will be granted to families. Applications and supporting documentation are due April 30th. Families who do not complete the application and provide all supporting documentation by this date risk not being awarded scholarships or SHS financial aid, since the budget for these are limited.
